Jim served many years in the retail and leisure sectors, where he developed a no-compromise approach to excellence in customer service.
A radical change in career path 15 years ago took him into the stone industry and he has never looked back.
He personally oversees every fireplace project from start to finish and is the first point of contact for customers.
Since completing his apprenticeship with Sandridge Stone some years ago, Jonny has become a very accomplished stonemason.
His sharp eye for detail and pursuit of perfection means that every fireplace is carved to the highest standard of workmanship.
Working with stone is more than just his job though – it’s a hobby too, and he spends lots of his spare time carving intricate pieces for the sheer enjoyment of it.
With decades of stonemasonry experience, Tosh is the man responsible for selecting the best quality, rough quarry blocks of Bath Stone and turning them into the neat, square-sided stones that we use to carve into our fireplaces.
He has an innate feel for this wonderful material in it rawest form and has a highly developed ‘quarryman’s ear’ – the ability to tell from the sound of metal ‘rung’ onto a block of stone whether it contains any natural faults.
